Saturday, October 4th 11:30a
On Saturday we invite everyone to join us for a picnic on Angel Island
to celebrate our marriage. A California State Park and Wildlife
preserve, Angel Island is one of the finest natural and historical sites
in the Bay Area. Over 13 miles of trails circle the entire island.
Trails also lead to the 788-foot high summit of Mt. Livermore with
spectacular 360 degree views of the entire bay area. And while the
weather is always unpredictable, Angel Island is typically warmer and
sunnier than San Francisco.
As you might have guessed, the only way to get to Angel Island is by
boat. (Peter and Tatyana met on a sailboat on San Francisco Bay, so
here's your chance to share the romance!) The Blue and Gold Ferry
operates the line from San Francisco to the island, but the schedule is
quite limited. So if you want to join us you must catch the 11:45am
ferry from Pier 41 at Fisherman's Wharf. Don't miss the boat! You can
return to San Francisco on either the 2:55pm or 4:15pm ferry. The
roundtrip cost is $15 and each trip is about 25 minutes long.
We'll gather for a light lunch and drinks at the Hill Site Group Picnic
Area (a short walk from the ferry). Angel Island is mostly a
natural and historical preserve, there is a cantina, small restaurant,
ice cream parlor, and full washroom facilities near our picnic area at
Ayala Cove.
Segway Tours- Take one of those tipsy two wheeled jobbies around the island!
Tram Tours- Retired Disney trams take you on a loop ride around the base of the island.
Bike Rentals- You can also rent bikes in the city and bring them on the ferry
Hiking - Hike around the island and/or to the top. Give yourself about 2-2.5 hours to do the roundtrip to the peak and back, though great views are on display even partway up.
Lawn games - Frisbee, horseshoes, and other fun activities
We'll also have our sailboat on display if anyone wants to take a look.
Other logistics:
Attire for the picnic is casual; please wear walking shoes.
Families are welcome, though animals are not allowed on the island
(sorry Baika!)
Bring your camera and a jacket, since the fog can roll in anytime.
Please indicate on your RSVP card if you plan to attend the picnic.
