Hip, little hotel right at the gates of Chinatown and two blocks from Union Square. Center of all the city stuff.

Things to Do in San Francisco
Alcatraz - "Escape To"
It's a worthwhile way to spend a couple hours. It books up quickly, especially on weekends so you should go online and reserve a spot well in advance.

Bike the Bridge - "Just Do It!"
Rent a bike at fishermans' wharf and ride across the Golden Gate Bridge and then down to Sausalito for ice cream. Ride the ferry for the trip back to the wharf. Whole thing might take 2-3 hours depending on how often you stop to look around. It's a pretty easy ride, only two hills before the bridge and then all down hill to Sausalito. Highly recommended.

Chinatown - "My commuting nightmare is your tourist destination"
US's biggest Chinatown, very authentic. 101 year old Chinese ladies elbowing you through the crowd while they spit on your shoe.

Shopping - "Buy more stuff!"
Union Square (downtown) - fancy shops, name brands (Tiffany's, Prada, Neiman, etc)
Union Street (between Gough and Fillmore) - nice boutiques. Try "Ambiance" 1858 Union Street
Fillmore Street (between Pacific and California) - nice boutiques and restaurants

Wine Country - "Whine in your own part of the country"
