Baby

It's true. Barely a year after being married, and two months into our new house we have a baby girl on the way. The baby is set to arrive on July 10th

Announcement November 13th
On Friday, November 13th Tatyana was scheduled to fly to Peru to speak at a conference, Her international flight departed at 6:20a meaning that she had to leave the house around 4:30a. Since Tatyana was going to be eating out with her hosts (ceviche, wine, etc) she decided to take a test that morning while I slept. And so at 4:00am I was shaken awake to, "Peter, Peter, I need you to look at this."

"I can't look at anything," I said, "it's 4 in the morning." But she insisted.

"No, you need to look at something. Really." And there it was on the test, undeniably.

"Huh," I said, "Have fun in Peru."

And a couple minutes later she was gone on her way to South America. A few hours later I awoke as normal and then slowly the morning's events crept over me. Was that a dream or real? An email from Tatyana's iPhone later that day an reinforced that it was not a dream.

First Sonogram December 9th
The first sonogram was interesting. Earlier we had heard heartbeats and had other indications that the baby was doing fine, but this was the first time we would see the pics, The technician moved the wand back and forth and finally a picture of the baby resolved.

Christmas
My brother Chris was scheduled to get married in Brazil the day after New Years. In addition to Brazil we had planned a hiking/camping trip to Patagonia. While the trip was still on the manner in which we conducted the trip of course changed. It all ended up ok and you can read more about it here.
